Nevada flooding forces Burning Man attendees to shelter in place

The doorway to the Burning Man counterculture competition within the Nevada desert was closed and attendees have been urged to shelter in place Saturday as flooding from storms swept via the world.

The doorway will likely be closed for the rest of the occasion, which started on Aug. 27 and was scheduled to finish on Monday, in accordance with the U.S. Bureau of Land Administration, which oversees the Black Rock Desert the place the competition is being held. Organizers urged festivalgoers to preserve their meals, water and gas. 

The Black Rock Metropolis Municipal Airport, a temporary pop-up airport utilized by competition goers each summer time particularly for Burning Man, was closed as of Saturday afternoon, the competition mentioned. 

“All occasion entry is at present closed,” the competition said, and no driving was permitted aside from emergency autos.
