If you want to know what’s trending for the rest of this year and into 2025, look no further than the HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams 2025 Color Collection of the Year. Whether you’re trying to create the perfect WFH office, style a guest bedroom that rivals a luxury hotel suite, or update your home’s exterior to create a great first impression, color makes a significant difference.
“Naturally Refined” is the HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams 2025 Color Collection of the Year, and “Quietude” is the brand’s 2025 Color of the Year.
In this exclusive interview, Ashley Banbury, color marketing manager at HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, explains how to use each of the 10 colors in the Naturally Refined Color Collection of the Year in various rooms in the house – and provides photos to demonstrate her suggestions.
Bedroom
The bedroom features Rocky River on the ceiling, crown, window, baseboard, and closet door. “We look to our bedrooms as a space to relax and unwind, and rich green shades like Rocky River infuse a look and feel that accomplishes just that,” Banbury says. When applied as an accent color, she explains that the hue creates a visual cocoon effect for a peaceful resting space.
Dining Room
In the dining room, an elegant Convivial Yellow is on the ceiling. “Convivial Yellow’s light yellow hue with warm undertones adds a touch of brightness to any room and is a showstopper when applied to ceiling spaces,” Banbury says.
Pantry
Banbury likes Nomadic Desert to add warmth to kitchen spaces and pantries. “With its warm tan base and blush undertones, this hue provides a modern yet familiar feel to a space that is typically dominated by light and bright colors.”
Exterior
Stucco has a white base with warm undertones, and Banbury says this makes it a perfect selection for exterior spaces. “Clean but welcoming, this hue mimics the luxury of linen and creates a foundation color that is striking when paired with a brightly colored front door or trim.”
Front Door (Interior)
“Sequin is an elegant yellow with a goldenrod influence that looks beautiful on doors, trim and cabinets,” Banbury says, adding that it can bring a warm pop of color to entryways, as well as kitchens and pantries.
Reading Nook
She also likes chocolate brown colors like Nutshell and says they work especially well in an office or reading nook. “Nutshell can infuse a full-room sense of tranquility and focus through a deeper hue without skewing too dark.”
Kitchen
Snowboard is a sophisticated clean white with a warm undertone. “Everyone needs the quintessential, go-to white that they can use reliably throughout their home, either as a main color backdrop, on trim and doors, or as accent colors in any space,” Banbury says. She says Snowbound has a slight gray undertone that provides versatility for any design, making it the perfect white.
Nursery
“Spiced Cider’s playful warm orange hue ushers in a fresh take on kid’s playrooms and nurseries when used as a primary color on walls with pops of yellow and green added throughout the space,” Banbury says.
Bathroom
Quietude is a soft green with influences of blue. “What better way to infuse serenity into frequently used spaces like bathrooms than a cool sage green like Quietude, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams 2025 Color of the Year.” And while this timeless shade works well in any interior or exterior setting, she says its cool undertones and classic elegance fuse both modern and traditional elements for a color with true staying power.
Interior
Delft is a mid-tone blue with a neutral undertone and works well in a monochromatic color scheme. “A calming Delft provides frequently used spaces such as bedrooms and entryways with a sense of grounding and serenity while infusing a striking pop of color,” Banbury explains.
