Camal Studio – the same Italian design company that made the world’s first hyper limousine – has unveiled the Scoperta, a stunning new barchetta that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern performance. This unique creation revives the spirit of Italian automotive design from the 1950s and 1960s, offering a fresh take on timeless aesthetics built using a British open-top sports car.

Caterham’s Lighweight Project V Will Have Something In Common With The Lexus LFA
The lightweight sports car is edging closer to production. Can it compete with the Porsche Cayman EV?
Built on the Caterham Seven 485 platform, the Scoperta retains the raw drive associated with the Japanese-funded British brand while introducing a design that celebrates the Piedmontese coachbuilding heritage. Measuring 131.9 inches in length and 66.3 inches in width, the car weighs just 1,235 pounds or around the weight of a Mazda MX-5 Miata. It is powered by a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine producing 240 horsepower, a bit more powerful than the 485 to match its eye-catching looks.
Designed Like A True Italian Roadster
The Scoperta’s design is an homage to the past, characterized by sinuous, organic forms shaped from aluminum and carbon fiber. Its low front, extended hood, and compact windshield evoke the golden era of Italian roadsters. The rear “seppia” design represents the classic barchetta style, combined with muscular fenders and aerodynamic elements, such as the rear diffuser and front splitter. Enlarged 19-inch wheels enhance both aesthetics and handling.

Sexy Italian Sports Car Concept Reaches Production After 55 Years
Bertone has recreated an icon for the modern era, giving us a 500-hp sports car with pop-up headlights.
Inside, Camal Studio continues the blend of tradition and modernity. The design firm employs geometric lines and circular themes, punctuated by functional, minimalist volumes focused on the driving experience. High-quality materials and advanced digital technology are found in the open cabin, with the seats integrated into the car’s structure. The best part is the gated manual gearbox shifter for maximum engagement.
Limited And Exclusive
The Scoperta is intended for limited production, with each unit tailored to customer specifications through Camal Studio’s customization department. Pricing for the Scoperta starts at approximately 150,000 euros (plus duties), or around $159,000 at the current exchange rates, or thrice as much as the final versions of the Caterham Seven 485. This effectively makes the Scoperta one of the most expensive Caterhams ever made. The estimated delivery time is six to eight months, so those interested will have to exercise a bit of patience before getting their hands on this beautiful machine.
