Kia has just announced pricing for the electric version of its Niro trilogy for 2025. The fully-electric version of the compact hatchback will have the same starting price as last year and one extra important safety feature. The big change for the Niro EV this year will help keep back seat passengers safer in the event of a crash.

Pricing Is Unchanged Across The Board
The 2025 Kia Niro EV is offered in base Wind grade and upscale Wave. The former starts from $39,600 plus $1,375 destination fee, both the same price as last year. The top Wave trim, starts from $44,600 plus destination, again the same as last year.
Kia’s new feature is standard seatbelt pre-tensioners for the rear seats. This feature, already found in the front of most vehicles, including the Niro, tightens the belts in the first moments of a crash. Tightening the belts helps make sure that the seat’s occupants are in the right place and held securely in the event of a crash.

The Niro EV Wind comes with standard features that include ambient lighting, a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, and heated front seats. It also has a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
Standard safety features include blind spot warning, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic warning, high beam assist, and navigation-based cruise control. Wave adds Highway Drive Assist II with lane changes, rear collision avoidance, parking sensors, and remote Smart Park assist.
Both Grades Offer Optional Heat Pump
The Wave trim also includes LED fog lights, heated mirrors, heated steering wheel, perforated faux-leather seats with ventilation and seat position memory, and Harman Kardon audio. An energy-saving heat pump is optional on both grades, a smart way to help buyers of the more affordable model get the highest efficiency.

Kia also offers a Niro PHEV and hybrid as well as this EV model, which is one of the most underrated and cheapest EVs on the market. There’s also a tri-fuel Niro, but not in the US. Both EV grades offer front-wheel drive through an electric motor with 201 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque.
The 64.8 kWh battery pack is on the smaller side, but that’s one way to help keep the price down. The Niro EV offers 253 miles of range on the EPA test cycle with an estimated efficiency of 113 MPGe.
