Android 15: Essential Security Settings to Change Immediately

Google announced Android 15 on Tuesday as the latest version of its mobile operating system. Arriving first on Pixel devices, this update brings a wave of changes, some big and some small, that enhance your phone’s privacy, security, and overall experience. While you might not immediately notice every new feature, there are a few standouts worth exploring and customizing right away.

One of the most significant additions is Theft Detection Lock. This smart Android 15 feature uses AI to determine if your phone has been taken out of your hand. If it senses theft, it will automatically lock down your device, preventing thieves from accessing your personal information. This provides an extra layer of security beyond your typical PIN. Android 15 also brings a bunch of other improvements. Gemini is the new AI assistant that offers a more intuitive and context-aware experience. You’ll also find the ability to create split-screen app pairs for easier multitasking, a revamped volume panel with more controls, and a smart home screensaver that lets you manage your devices while your phone charges.
