Adobe showed off features-in-development that all use the power of AI to help creatives do more.
Finding the good in AI can be difficult when you’re worried about what it means for your future, but Adobe showed off some potential future features that aren’t designed to take jobs from creatives, but to help them be more creative.
Adobe Max, the company’s annual creative conference has a session called Adobe Sneaks. It’s a presentation of some of the features that Adobe designers are working on. What’s shared may or may not ever become available to users, but they still tell a story. This year, that story was about how AI can help creatives do more and do it in less time.
Among the Sneaks covered was #ProjectRemixALot, an ability to turn a sketch into a full design and then remix it multiple times in multiple ways to change it and turn it into exactly what you had in mind. The tool uses AI to guide you through the design and the changes to help you end with the design you need in whatever size you desire, so you’re not constrained to a set of pre-defined sizes.
Then there was #ProjectInMotion, a tool that will allow you to turn a custom shape into a video using just a description of what you’re trying to achieve. It’s an almost point-and-click way to create videos from still shapes and could be useful for creating animated logos and other designs.
My favorite two Sneaks were #ProjectTurntable and #ProjectSuperSonic. Project Turntable is a weird bit of AI magic that lets you create and move 2D art as if it were 3D. You can change angles and views of your 2D art, moving it around as you would expect from something that’s rendered in 3D, but it’s non-destructive, so your 2D art remains unchanged. You really have to see this one to believe it.
Project Super Sonic is an audio designer’s dream. With this tool, you can use an AI prompt to add sound and layers of sound to your project. You can also record your own voice making a suggestion of sound effects in a video. Adobe’s AI magic then takes those suggestions and turns them into actual sounds. If you’re creating anything that needs a specific custom sound, this little bit of magic will make you very happy. The ability to control everything from the timing to the actual sound will blow you away.
Adobe announced several additional Sneaks during the Max conference. You can read about them and see previews of them on Adobe’s website.
