Mariners Deal RHP Ryne Stanek To Mets
Just as one reliever enters, another departs from the Mariners bullpen. Seattle traded 33-year-old RHP Ryne Stanek to the Mets in exchange for 24-year-old outfielder Rhylan Thomas, according to SNY’s Andy Martino. Stanek carries a 4.38 ERA through 46 outings. He throws hard, averaging 98 mph, and elicits plenty of swings and misses, but has also at times struggled with consistency and control this year. In return, the Mariners receive Thomas, who has hit .265/.318/.387 with five homers in 74 games in the upper minors. Thomas can play all three outfield positions and has solid bat-to-ball skills albeit with limited power and he chases out of the zone about a third of the time. He helps replenish Seattle’s upper-level outfielder depth after it dealt Jonatan Clase to the Blue Jays for RHP Yimi Garcia.
Mariners Add Reliever Yimi Garcia From Blue Jays for Jonatan Clase, Jacob Sharp
After acquiring Randy Arozarena from the Tampa Bay Rays in the wee hours of the morning, the Mariners made another swing through the American League East to bolster their bullpen on Friday. According to a report by ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Seattle has agreed to a trade for Blue Jays reliever Yimi Garcia. The return for Toronto, which had been seen by many as a team primed to sell off at the deadline, will be a pair of minor leaguers in outfielder Jonatan Clase and catcher Jacob Sharp, per The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
Orioles Acquire Pitcher Zach Eflin From Rays For A Trio Minor Leaguers
Sitting atop the American League East standings with their attention geared toward a deep postseason run, the Orioles made in-division a deal to bolster their starting rotation on Friday. According to report by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Baltimore has agreed to acquire righthanded pitcher Zach Eflin from the Rays. Per Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Orioles will send a trio of minor leaguers back to Tampa Bay: outfielder Matthew Etzel, righthanded pitcher Jackson Baumeister and infielder Mac Horvath.
Orioles, Phillies swap majors leaguers
The Orioles and Phillies synced for a rare deadline swap of majors leaguers between two World Series hopefuls. The Phillies acquired OF Austin Hays in exchange for RHP Seranthony Dominguez and OF Cristian Pache. The 28-year-old Hays is slashing .255/.316/.395 through 63 games with just three homers, while Dominguez owns a somewhat unlucky 4.75 ERA through 36 innings of relief along with a 25.5% strikeout rate. Hays provides the Phillies with a righthanded bat with a track record of success against lefties to fortify their lineup, and it now opens up more playing time in Baltimore for Heston Kjerstad and Colton Cowser if both remain on the roster through the deadline.
Dodgers send DFA’d James Paxton to Red Sox in exchange for DSL prospect
The Red Sox acquired old friend LHP James Paxton from the Dodgers on Friday. Los Angeles had designated Paxton for assignment earlier this week. The 35-year-old lefthander, who spent all of 2023 with Boston, went 8-2, 4.43 in 89.1 innings (18 starts) with the Dodgers this season, although his 6.4 K/9 is the lowest of his career. In exchange, the Dodgers acquired 3B/1B Moises Bolivar, who signed with the Red Sox as an international free agent this past winter. Boliver hit .270/.364/.423 with three homers through 31 games in the Dominican Summer League while primarily playing third base and showing solid approach/strike-zone management.
Randy Arozarena Traded To Mariners For Aidan Smith, Brody Hopkins & Player To Be Named
While most of the country was asleep in the early hours of a Friday morning, the Mariners were busying adding some much-needed offensive support for their pitching staff. In exchange for a pair of minor leaguers in outfielder Aidan Smith and righthander Brody Hopkins, as well as a player to be named later, Seattle pried Randy Arozarena—one of October’s most potent sluggers—away from the Rays.

D-backs land LHP A.J. Puk from Marlins in exchange for 1B Deyvison De Los Santos, 2B/OF Andrew Pintar
The trade waters are finally heating up. The Marlins and D-backs swung a deal late Thursday night, as Miami sent lefty A.J. Puk to Arizona in exchange for 1B Deyvison De Los Santos and outfielder Andrew Pintar, who were both tabbed as midseason risers in our last Arizona Top 30 Prospects update.
July 13
Royals acquire RHP Hunter Harvey from Nationals for 3B Cayden Wallace and a 2025 draft pick
Sitting just one game back of a wild card spot, the Royals swung a deal to bolster their bullpen. In exchange for righty Hunter Harvey, Kansas City sent third baseman Cayden Wallace and the 39th overall pick in this year’s draft to the Nationals.
July 3
Brewers acquire RHP Aaron Civale from Rays for SS Gregory Barrios
The Rays and Brewers struck the first significant deal of the summer when Milwaukee acquired righthander Aaron Civale from Tampa Bay for High-A shortstop Gregory Barrios. Civale, who was acquired from Cleveland last summer in exchange for first baseman Kyle Manzardo, will help salve a Brewers pitching staff that has been wracked by injuries all year long.
