Rivian is rolling out a significant discount for buyers ready to switch to electric with its new All-Electric Upgrade Offer. Starting October 31 and running through November 30, 2024, customers in the US and Canada who purchase a new 2025 Rivian R1S or R1T through the R1 Shop can save $3,000 (USD) or $4,100 (CAD). This offer applies to the Dual Large, Dual Max, and Tri Max configurations of both EVs.
With the All-Electric Upgrade Offer, Rivian aims to make the transition to electric smoother and more affordable for those moving away from traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) or hybrid vehicles. Rivian’s terms state that this offer is limited to one discount per qualifying vehicle purchase and is only available to adults who are the registered owners of their ICE or hybrid vehicles.
Huge Discounts But There Are Limitations
To qualify, buyers simply need to show proof that they own or lease a gas-powered or hybrid vehicle. The process is straightforward: browse Rivian’s online configurations or check trade-in estimates, place an order, and take delivery by December 31, 2024, to lock in the discount. Importantly, customers don’t need to trade in their existing vehicles – just proof of ownership or leasing is required.

However, the offer does not extend to custom builds, demo models, or pre-owned vehicles, and Dual Standard models are excluded from the discount. The offer is also not transferable, can’t be redeemed for cash, and isn’t compatible with other promotions unless Rivian specifies otherwise. The EV startup also cautions that the discount isn’t permanent, and it has the right to amend or terminate if needed.
Not The First Round Of Discounts From Rivian
This incentive arrives at a time when Rivian is looking to ramp up its appeal in the competitive EV market, giving potential buyers a solid reason to take the leap and go all-electric by the end of 2024. Apart from some Halloween gimmicks, the company is working to produce the latest versions of the R1 EVs sooner.

This isn’t the first time that the company has rolled out discounts for Rivian EVs. Rivian also rolled out a referral program this year, mirroring a tactic from its Texas-based rival, Tesla.
