Song Jae-rim, the South Korean actor and model, was found dead at his home in Seoul, South Korea, police confirmed on Tuesday, November 12. He was 39 years old. His cause of death is still unclear.
Jae-rim’s funeral is scheduled to take place at Yeouido St. Mary’s Funeral Hall, according to The Korea Herald. The outlet further reported that a police spokesperson said there is currently “no evidence of foul play.” According to multiple outlets, a letter was found at his home.
The late We Got Married alum had not been active on social media since at least March of this year.
Jae-rim’s latest performances were in the South Korean TV series My Military Valentine in the role of Sung Jae-hoon, and the musical La Rose de Versailles. The actor’s last performance in the latter was on October 13, per The Korea Herald.
The Seoul native landed his breakout on-screen role in the 2012 series The Moon Embracing the Sun. He later went on to portray a variety of roles in other projects, such as Cool Guys, Hot Ramen, Inspiring Generation, Two Weeks and Queen Woo.
After steadily building his acting career, Jae-rim was nominated for various accolades. He won the Best Male Newcomer award at the 2014 MBC Awards in addition to the Special Acting Award, Actor in a Serial Drama at the 2016 SBS Drama Wards.
Earlier in his career, Jae-rim modeled for various magazines and collections in South Korea, including Vogue Girl Korea, Nylon Korea, GQ Korea, Esquire Korea and Marie Claire Korea.
After news of the K-drama star’s death broke, countless fan tributes poured in across social media.
“Today, we say ‘goodbye’ to a star whose light will never truly fade,” one X user tweeted on November 12. “Song Jae Rim, you left a mark in our hearts with your talent, warmth, and laughter. May you rest in peace, and may your legacy continue to inspire. You are deeply missed but never forgotten.”
