Google has released a dedicated Gemini app for iPhone users.
I’m in that weird majority that loves Siri. I use it all the time on my phone, computer, and iPad. But I just tried out the new Google Gemini app for iPhone, and Apple has a lot of catching up to do.
In an email to Lifewire, Google announced the new dedicated Gemini app for iPhone users, so I thought I’d give it a try. I just had a three-minute conversation with the AI that led me to a flatbed scanner that I’ve been searching for for almost a week.
Gemini on iPhone has some nice features, not the least of which is the ability to have a regular conversation with the AI. I was pleased with its ability to listen even as I stumbled through my initial questions to it, trying to figure out what I wanted to say. Gemini kept up but didn’t rush me. You can also choose from 10 different options to customize Gemini’s voice, so it’s more pleasing to you.
Chatting isn’t the only thing you can do, though. You can also create images using Imagen 3 with Gemini Live, and Gemini will connect to your favorite apps to help you find information or create new things. For example, you can create reminders or write emails. You’ll need to use extensions to do some things, which Google says will be available “in the coming weeks.”
The dedicated Gemini for iPhone app is available in the App Store in 35 languages; however, conversations with Gemini Live are only available in over 10 languages, “with more languages coming soon.”
