Key Takeaways
- Naran Hyper Coupe aims for a four-seater Nürburgring record.
- BMW M8-derived hypercar promises 1,048 horsepower from bored-out twin-turbo V8.
- Just 39 units are to be produced at a cost of over $2.5 million each.
The idea of a hypercar that can seat four individuals is nothing new, but it’s still rare. Besides the Koenigsegg Gemera, two-door four-seaters are almost nonexistent in this world, but a company founded by an Indian-Zimbabwean entrepreneur named Ameerh Naran aims to change that with something considerably more affordable, albeit still very expensive. Based on the BMW M8, 39 units of the Naran Hyper Coupe are intended to be built in Germany, each priced at £2 million, or over $2.5 million.
2024 BMW M8 Coupe
- Base MSRP
- $138,800
- Engine
- 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 Gas
- Horsepower
- 617 hp
- Fuel Economy
- 15/22 MPG
While the M8 develops up to 617 hp, the Naran Hyper Coupe aims for 1,048 hp and 764 lb-ft of torque. When this was first announced in 2020 as the Naran Hypercar, a top speed of 230 mph was targeted. The company makes no mention of top speed on its website any longer, but it does target another lofty goal: “Our ambition is for the Naran Coupe to be the world’s fastest four-seater hypercar around the Nürburgring.”
Nothing Like An M8
Naran’s goal should be easy enough to achieve. Although the Porsche Panamera and AMG GT63 4-Door are fast on the Nordschleife, the shorter wheelbase of a two-door coupe should play into Naran’s hands, but that’s not all. The 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 has been bored out to 5.0 liters of capacity, and the turbos are larger, too. Along with the basic chassis and suspension design of the M8, the hypercar will retain BMW’s switchable AWD system, allowing drivers to change to a rear-drive-only setup with the push of a button.

A GT3-derived brake cooling system is also touted, but for now, details such as weight and dimensions are yet to be revealed. Naran believes it can achieve 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds, 0-100 mph in 4.5 seconds, and 0-200 mph in just 16.5 seconds, and those who commit to a purchase can also go for a more hardcore setup with a “track-inspired aero pack informed by the adjustable systems used in motorsport to enhance downforce.” Both looks come from the mind of Jowyn Wong, who styled the bonkers-crazy Apollo Intensa Emozione and the graceful De Tomaso P72.
“Our cars are about indulging our owners in unparalleled tailoring and visceral performance, offering them all the things they have always dreamed about in a vehicle, in an aesthetic, luxury and driving experience sense. Our unprecedented customization options mean our customers can even give their vehicle its own name. And, because the car has four seats, our owners can share their vision with others, too.”

Lavish Materials
Naran has not disclosed what the body is made of, but we assume that composite materials will be used to keep weight down. For the record, the M8 weighs over 4,100 lbs in base form and can swell to nearly 4,500 lbs, depending on the variant. As with all low-volume creations of this ilk, customers will be able to tailor the exterior and interior to their tastes, but this prototype (to be displayed for the first time at the UK’s Blenheim Palace as part of Salon Privé 2024 from August 28-31) is finished in a Ruby shade with Almond Gold accents.

These colors appear in the cabin, too, with a mix of Ruby leather and satin Ruby paint, Almond Gold stitching, and billet aluminum combining with a Stone Grey and Black Chrome center console. If you’re interested in reserving one of the 39 units slated for production, a deposit of £300,000 (just over $385,500 at the time of writing) secures your spot. Just try to ignore the fact that the headlights look like they’re copied from a Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
