These updates make creating interesting videos from your action camera easier.
The hardest part of creating action videos is knowing how to edit them. Insta360 wants to make that easier with two new updates to the Insta360 App.
Insta360 announced the update to the Insta360 App on Thursday in a press release sent to Lifewire. The update, which is available to download now, adds automatic AI scene recognition and more than 40 new automatic movement templates.
Automatic Scene Recognition takes the objects or subjects in your video into account and determines the interaction between them. It can then recognize what type of video it is—examples included in the press release are winter sports or travel—and it automatically selects the best shots for you to choose from. You can then export only those shots you’ve selected.
According to Insta360, this feature lets you not only identify a subject, but it can also identify the subject’s interactions to help create a more complete story.
The Automatic Movement Templates add movement—like roll, pan, and push—to your videos. The feature lets you drag a movement into your timeline. Once there, you can adjust speed and perspective. The end result is a smooth transition between keyframes in your video. You can even add your own movements or modify existing movements in the app.
According to the press release, “The updates are available for all 360º footage from Insta360 cameras, including X4, X3, X2 and RS (with the 360º lens).” If your Insta360 App doesn’t update automatically when you open it, you can download and install the update manually. You can access the download for your device on the Insta360 website.
