A wearable AI recorder does have potential for helping you remember things, but the AI element may concern some people.
PLAUD.AI bills it’s newest product as a “note-taking” device, but somehow, it feels like it’s more than that.
PLAUD announced the new device, called the NotePin, in a press release sent to Lifewire. It’s a tiny capsule that can be worn as a necklace, pin, clip, or wristband that you can activate to capture conversations you have throughout the day. The recordings can then be transcribed and summarized to help you keep track of important details and be more productive.
According to PLAUD, “the device learns and understands its users over time to perform routine tasks before and after important meetings or events.” This, of course, is enabled by the built-in AI that can distinguish speakers during meetings and provide summaries of those meetings or other conversations that you have.
The NotePin has a 40-day standby time and can capture up to 20 hours of continuous recording in high-definition. It has press-to-record capabilities, and according to the press release, the AI can “interact with your conversations,” though you’ll have to paid for some interactions.
PLAUD’s NotePin also has a companion app and website, which requires a subscription to use. There is a free tier that offers 300 minutes of transcription per month and basic AI features, but to get the full experience, you may need to subscribe to the Pro Plan, which is $6.60 per month (billed annually) and includes up to 1200 minutes of transcription each month plus custom templates and an Ask AI feature.
You can preorder the PLAUD NotePin now for $169. Shipping starts in late September 2024.
