New games are releasing soon, and many games are willing to upgrade their consoles to get the latest versions.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set to release in the fall of 2025, and EA Sports FC 25 will release in the fall of this year, but some new releases might not play on your current console. However, new statistics say nearly half of gamers have or will upgrade their gaming console to get the latest releases.
The information comes from a study sent to Lifewire by Independent Advisor Broadband Deals. It illustrates just how far gamers are willing to go to get the newest game releases. According to the data, one-third of gamers already own the PS5, but two in five will probably consider upgrading when the new GTA VI comes out since the requirements for that game are PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. That could mean that demand for the PS5 remains as strong. (Is anyone else thinking that the holiday season is approaching?)
Even before the new GTA, though, plenty of games are coming up for release this fall, including titles like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and EA Sports FC 25. The EA Sports game will work on PS5 but is also compatible with PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch, and according to this research, that title would drive gamers to upgrade their console.
While GTA and FIFA series games top the list of those gamers who would upgrade, about 40 percent of gamers would upgrade for The Call of Duty series. About 20-30 percent would upgrade for titles like Fortnite, Assassin’s Creed, and Minecraft. At the bottom of the list, only about 18 percent of gamers would consider upgrading for the Red Dead Redemption series.
Seems like as long as there are new games coming, there will always be a reason to upgrade your gaming console.
