Adobe’s reassures customers that its upcoming Firefly generative AI capabilities for professional video editors are safe to use in an commercial setting.
Earlier this year, Adobe announced a new set of features coming to the Firefly Video Model and Premiere Pro. This new preview shows off the capabilities and tries to reassure customers that the features are “commercially safe” to use.
In a press announcement, Adobe revealed a new YouTube video showing off some of the new features available to video professionals later this year. Those features include text-to-video AI generation, creating videos from still shots, automatic filling of gaps in videos, and more seamless transitions between shots.
In addition to showing off these features, Adobe mentioned several times in the video that the new Firefly AI capabilities would be “commercially safe” to use. The company also mentions that the Firefly AI model is trained solely on “on content we have permission to use – never on Adobe customer content.” According to the company that means public domain or licensed content.
“Building upon our foundational Firefly models for imaging, design and vector creation, our Firefly foundation video model is designed to help the professional video community unlock new possibilities, streamline workflows and support their creative ideation,” Ashley Still, senior vice president, Creative Product Group at Adobe, said in the press release. “We are excited to bring new levels of creative control and efficiency to video editing with Firefly-powered Generative Extend in Premiere Pro.”
Adobe still hasn’t provided an exact release date for these features, saying on that they will be “available later this year.” You can join the waitlist for the Firefly Video Model beta on Adobe’s website. And who knows, maybe we’ll see these features come available at the Adobe MAX 2024 conference in October?
