US and UK defense officials met within the framework of the Strategic Dialogue, discussing a number of key issues, including the situation of Ukraine, which is repelling Russian aggression, as well as strengthening collective defense in Europe.
That’s according to a statement by the Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon, distributed on Monday, Ukrinform reports.
“The strategy-focused portion of the dialogue included a discussion of the recently-announced UK Strategic Defense Review, cooperation on strategic readiness, and Russia’s unprovoked war of aggression in Ukraine,” the document states.
The parties also discussed the defense-industrial resilience base of the two countries and the European Union, measures to strengthen collective security, partnership within the AUKUS initiative, and other issues.
The delegations were led by the deputy secretaries of defense and the deputy chiefs of staff.
As reported, the Defense Dialogue between the United States and the United Kingdom is held twice a year. It was established to focus high-level attention on strategic issues and technical innovations in the security sector. The previous meeting within the framework of the Dialogue took place on June 5 in Washington.
