The S650 Ford Mustang rules the roost all alone these days, but the Blue Oval keeps giving it minor updates, and the latest slew thereof is designed to give the pony car a little more presence. After making a matte clear film available for Mustang coupes at the beginning of this year (and for the Ford Bronco last month), Ford has now opened the option to convertible variants for the first time. The dealer-installed option will give your factory paint a little more protection from grime, road salt, bugs, and so on, and alongside a car without it, it makes quite the difference.
A New Color Is Coming But We Can’t See It Yet
Alongside the announcement of a new paint protection film option, Ford has also revealed that every trim of the 2025 Mustang will get access to a new paint color called Intense Lime Yellow. Well, almost every trim – the Mustang Dark Horse can’t be had with this vibrant hue, and cars with the Mustang 60th Anniversary Appearance package also can’t access it.

Pricing hasn’t yet been announced, but we suspect this will replace Yellow Splash Metallic, a $995 hue. Without images for the time being, we have to make do with Ford’s explanation of the tenth color on the Mustang palette: “It’s a bright, vivid yellow-green.” We’ll update this article if we get any images or videos of the new finish, but orders open today, so we should get a good look soon. In the meantime, other subtle cosmetic changes have been made.
More Eye Shadow For The Mustang As Standard
Along with its fancy satin dress, the Mustang also gets a little cosmetic enhancement borrowed from the Mustang Nite Pony, specifically its dark headlights. Happily, this isn’t a charged option and will come standard on all 2025 Mustang models. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Mustang Dark Horse hasn’t been forgotten, with a new optional bronze wheel option. Again, no imagery or pricing has yet been provided.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Finally Has A Baby Brother
The crossover meant to replace the Fiesta has spawned an electric version, and it’s a baby Mustang Mach-E in almost every way.
Speaking of pricing, if you want a little extra cash left over for visual upgrades, you may want to think twice about that V8, since the Mustang GT is some $3,745 pricier than it was for 2024. Alternatively, you could always pick up the Mustang’s old foe; dozens and dozens of Dodge Challenger Black Ghost special editions are sitting unsold on dealer lots among thousands more regular V8 Challengers, so you may be able to negotiate a good deal – albeit on a car that only comes in black.
