The Jeep Wagoneer S, the American automaker’s first battery-electric vehicle in the US, isn’t a cheap buy. The one customers can purchase right now is the sole Launch Edition trim that starts north of $70,000, though some dealers are already discounting the EV up to $13,000. However, Jeep has already confirmed that a new version is coming – quite possibly a more affordable variant for those not willing to spend seven grand on an electric Jeep.
In its press release for its upcoming 2025 Chicago Auto Show installation, Stellantis has revealed plans to introduce a new trim for its Wagoneer S. Though it didn’t explicitly say that it’s a cheaper Wagoneer S, Launch Edition models are typically with optioned everything but the kitchen sink, so we expect the new trim to be a more affordable version with fewer standard features and possibly less potent powertrain setup.
If $70,000 Is Too Much For A Jeep EV
Apart from free public test rides and the first public outing of the Wagoneer S, Stellantis is coy about details of the upcoming variant. It has only been a few days since the Wagoneer S went on sale, so this will be good exposure for the EV. As for the latter, luxurious options could be ticked out by Jeep, but the EV’s electric motor and battery setup is where the company can decide to downgrade in order to offer a more affordable variant.

2024 Jeep Wagoneer S First Drive Review: Upscale Electrification
The first electric Jeep in the US delivers a fresh take on Jeep style while staying true to the brand’s heritage.
As a benchmark, the electric midsize SUV is equipped with two electric motors producing a total of 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque, sent to all four wheels. This setup allows the Wagoneer S to sprint from standstill to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds (quicker than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk). Meanwhile, its 100.5 kWh battery has the capacity to provide enough juice up to EPA-rated 303 miles on a single charge when fitted with Falken tires.
More Details At The Chicago Auto Show
Apart from the announcement of a new Wagoneer S trim, Jeep’s presence at the Chicago Auto Show also includes its Camp Jeep exhibit, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Stellantis is also showcasing other vehicles at the show, including the Dodge Charger Daytona and the Ram 1500 Ramcharger extended-range truck, which the company previously promised to bring this year under new leadership, along with other nameplates.
