Italian automaker Alfa Romeo announced its plans for the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, and while none of the news is particularly earth-shattering, we’re happy to see the brand investing in its products. The main news for Europeans is the debut of the Junior Q4, an all-wheel-drive version of the hybrid hatchback that adds an electric motor to the rear axle for through-the-road all-wheel drive.

Perhaps more interesting to American consumers is the new Intensa Series. It adds a suite of design tweaks to the Giulia sedan and the Stelvio and Tonale crossovers – though whether they’ll arrive in the US remains to be seen.
Going For Gold
Changes for the Tonale are already in the works, but the other two Alfa US offerings are getting undeniably long in the tooth. The Giulia and the Stelvio date to 2017 and 2018, respectively. They remain enticing luxury cars thanks to their bold styling and emotive performance, but nice as they are, sales have not exactly been great. The Intensa Series special editions could help change that if they come to the US with a few key styling alterations that make liberal use of warm, metallic tones.

Both the Giulia and Tonale iterations get diamond-cut black wheels with gold accents, updating the classic Alfa phone dial wheel design just a bit. Then there are the black brake calipers with gold script logos, found on both the Giulia and the Stelvio. The Intensa Series will also offer unique exterior colorways, including the gorgeous Verde Montreal that was formerly only available on the high-performance Quadrifoglio. Inside, shoppers will find black and tan upholstery with tan stitched accents, as well as “intensa” embossing on the seats using Alfa’s DNA script.
Junior’s Getting Some Love, Too
The Alfa Romeo Junior, which made headlines for being the company’s first foray into the EV space, also offers a gas-electric variant, which gets Q4 all-wheel drive at the Brussels Motor Show. The Junior Ibrida – Italian for hybrid – gets a turbocharged 1.2-liter inline-three matched to a 28-horsepower electric motor integrated into its six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The forthcoming Q4 will add an additional electric motor with the same output to the rear axle, giving the small crossover through-the-road all-wheel drive.

A year late and for $10,000 less, Alfa Romeo is bringing the gas Tonale to US dealers.
The rear axle will get its own gearbox to maximize wheel torque, improving off-the-line traction in slick conditions. Alfa also says the Q4 system will help the Junior traverse dusty roads, though trail use probably isn’t a great idea. And we assume the compact traction motor likely won’t contribute much propulsion as vehicle speeds rise – similar to the previous-generation Prius AWD-e. Despite the added hardware, the Junior Q4 shares its 136-hp total power output with its front-drive sibling, adding credence to our suspicions.
