You have a few more months to play until a new, paid version takes its place.
In a surprise announcement late Wednesday, Nintendo informed Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp users that the service is shutting down. Players can continue using the app until its demise on November 28.
The good news is the company is already talking about its replacement. Although the current game is free and its replacement will cost, it will work offline and there won’t be in-app purchases or subscriptions like Pocket Camp Club. You’ll be able to transfer all your data to the new app once it becomes available.
The new app will not require you to be online to play, so Market Boxes, visiting other campsites, gifts, and other online features will not be available. Otherwise, the company says the controls and basic gameplay will be the same as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
To have your data transferred to the paid version of the app, you can link your Nintendo Account if you haven’t already tied the two together. With the exception of Leaf Tickets, save data will carry over automatically as soon as the new app is ready.
Details like the app’s price and when it will come out will be available around October. Nintendo says they will “continue to hold events and add items until the service-end date.”
