Android users can now download the Apple TV app and subscribe to Apple TV+ and the MLS Season Pass.
Apple TV+ has some of the hottest content and sports available, but previously, the Apple TV app wasn’t available for Android phones and tablets. On Wednesday, Apple changed that by announcing that it’s rebuilt the AppleTV app from the ground up for Android devices.
With this announcement, the Apple TV app will be available in the Google Play store, and people can download it to their Android phones and tablets. And through the app, those users can now subscribe to Apple TV+ and the MLS (Major League Soccer) Season Pass.
Apple is making the Android app available worldwide, although availability may vary by region. The app should work as Android users are accustomed to, with press-and-hold gestures, menus, and downloading capabilities performing as they would with any other Android app.
As part of the release, a 7-day Free Trial will be available so Android users can try the content before committing to an Apple TV+ subscription. The free trial will give those subscribers to shows like Severance, The Morning Show, and Ted Lasso. It will also include movies such as Wolfs, CODA, and Killers of the Flower Moon.
In addition to those entertainment options, users can subscribe to the MLS Season Pass (for an additional fee), which includes the 2025 soccer season—the MLS’s 30th season—with no blackout dates and exclusive content.
Once the 7-day free trial has ended, you can subscribe to Apple TV+ for $9.99/month or save a little with an annual subscription for $99.99/year. If you choose to subscribe to the MLS Season Pass, that’s an additional $12.99/month during the season or $79 for the full season (with an Apple TV+ subscription; without Apple TV+, it’s $14.99/month or $99/year).
