Now you can get information about your favorite sports teams right from the Lock Screen on your iPhone or Apple Watch.
It’s almost time for college and NFL football to start, and just in time, Apple’s bringing new ways to stay updated on your favorite teams.
In a press release sent to Lifewire, Apple announced changes in the Apple Sports App for NFL and college football. For the NFL, expect to see new ways to access scoring drives, a new drive tracker that lets you clearly see the location of the ball on the field, and the ability to follow teams so you can learn more about them with just a tap. College football fans will now have the ability to follow the top 25 teams in addition to their favorites and conferences. “Every game will also feature real-time scores, stats, and live betting odds, similar to all other leagues in the app,” Apple said in the news release.
You’ll also be able to get live scores on your lock screen in iOS 18 and WatchOS 11 for all teams available in the app. Apple also said that an update coming later this year will bring a new drop-down navigation menu that will allow you to easily switch between teams, leagues, and your feed. The company also plans to add enhanced search features to make it easier to find information on the teams you want to see.
In addition to college and NFL footballs, sports fans can also find information about numerous other leagues and sports in the Apple Sports app. Currently those include:
- NFL
- NCAAF
- MLS
- MLB
- NBA
- WNBA
- NCAA basketball (men’s and women’s)
- NHL
- NWSL
- Premier League
- Bundesliga
- LaLiga
- Liga MX
- Ligue 1
- Serie A
You can download the Apple Sports app in the App store now. If you already have it on your device, it should update automatically, or you can update it from the App Store.
