Fans of zombie-slaying action games can look forward to Dead Island 2 when it finally debuts on one of PC’s most prolific digital storefronts.
Exactly one year after its successful 2023 launch, Dead Island 2 is finally looking to make its arrival on Steam later this month, on April 22. This news comes just weeks after Dead Island 2 revealed key details of its second story DLC, titled SoLA, a southern LA music festival romp set for April 17.
Dead Island 2 allows players to craft an amalgamation of different weapons enhanced with a slew of elemental effects perfect for mowing down hordes of zombies in first-person. Taking players on a journey through some of Los Angeles’ most iconic locations, like Bel-Air, Venice Beach, Hollywood Boulevard, Santa Monica Pier, and more, Dead Island 2‘s various environments are the star of the show and serve as the perfect backdrop for the game’s gory, campy zombie-slaying action. Equipped with abilities like Numen skills, which briefly put players in a powerful feral zombie state, Dead Island 2 is considered to be one of the best zombie-slaying experiences in recent years.
Unfortunately for Steam gamers, Dead Island 2 initially launched as an Epic Game Store exclusive on PC, leaving millions of zombie fans on the platform waiting for a whole extra year. Now, Steam users will finally be able to experience all that Dead Island 2 has to offer when it lands on the storefront on April 22. Eager fans can wishlist Dead Island 2 now, and can choose from three different editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Gold.
Dead Island 2 Steam Release Date
- April 22
Dead Island 2‘s first story DLC, Haus, will also be available for fans to pick up on Steam. Additionally, the game’s Expansion Pass will allow players to save money on both Haus and Dead Island 2‘s imminent SoLA DLC, which is coming in just a few weeks. It’s surely a bummer that the DLC is releasing just days before the game comes to Steam, though it’s likely that players will have to play though a chunk of the main game before being able to access SoLA anyway. Dead Island 2 had already sold several million copies when it launched on Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic last year. There’s no doubt that it’s arrival on Steam will give the game a big wave of new zombie slayers prowling the streets of LA.
After years of doubt surrounding the incredibly tumultuous development of Dead Island 2, the game found success upon launch last year and is continuing to satisfy its playerbase with new content and story DLCs. With SoLA launching on April 17 and Dead Island 2 coming to Steam on April 22, it’ll undoubtedly be a huge month for the game and its fans. Hopefully, this continued success leads to either another DLC or a possible Dead Island 3 in the future.
