President Biden’s approval rating as he leaves office matches the lowest of his presidency in a recent poll from CNN.
In the CNN poll released on Wednesday, 36 percent said they are supportive of “the way Joe Biden is handling his job as president,” matching an approval rating the president received in June of last year that is the lowest of his presidency in the outlet’s polling.
The president has had a rough last year in the political arena that featured him having to step out of the presidential race after a rough debate performance. Throughout the year, Biden faced questions about his age and mental capability and his son Hunter Biden’s legal struggles.
Sixty-four percent in the new poll said they are not supportive of Biden’s handling of his job, matching a disapproval rating he received in June of last year that is the highest in CNN’s polling of his presidency.
President-elect Trump is set to be inaugurated next Monday, marking the end of the Biden presidency. A recent Gallup survey found 51 percent of Americans approve of the way the president-elect has handled his presidential transition.
The CNN poll took place from Jan. 9 to 12, featuring 1,205 people and a plus or minus 3.2 percentage point margin of sampling error.
