KENT– Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Randale L. Richmond has announced a one-year contract extension for head volleyball coach Haley Eckerman.
The one-year extension runs the contract through the 2026 volleyball season, Eckerman completed her second season as head coach this past season.
“Haley took over a program in a state of flux and has re-established a strong foundation and culture within the volleyball program,” Richmond said. “This extension gives her, her staff, and her team the opportunity to continue build the program, sustain success, and further showcases the faith we have in Coach Eckerman and the volleyball program,” Richmond added.
This past season, Eckerman guided Logan Henderson to freshman All-Conference honors. Henderson ranked third amongst freshman in kills per set and ranked second on the team in total kills. Henderson only trailed Mackenzie McGuire, who finished fifth in kills per set in the MAC and 58th in Division-I. McGuire ranked 49th in attacks per set and 84th in the nation in total points.
“I am thankful for this opportunity to continue being at Kent State,” Eckerman said. “I appreciate the support that President Diacon, Randale Richmond, Trent Stratton and the rest of the administration of Kent State athletics have provided during my time so far here in Kent! I am so excited to continue building our team and the success of Kent State Volleyball.”
The 2024 MAC schedule has been released. The Flashes open conference play at home against Eastern Michigan for a two-match series starting on Thursday, September 26th.
