Chinese smartphone brand and now automaker Xiaomi has revealed its latest model as a followup to the highly popular SU7 electric sedan. Called the YU7, Xiaomi’s second model is an electric SUV, and it’s gunning to challenge its rivals in the market, such as the hot-selling Tesla Model Y and the recently launched Porsche Macan Electric.
Design-wise, the Xiaomi YU7 doesn’t veer too far from its sedan sibling, the SU7, but in SUV form. It does look like the SUV version of the McLaren 750S, basically the one thing that McLaren has yet to produce – a high-riding super SUV. Its overall shape and proportions are close to that of the Ferrari Purosangue’s, while its size, according to information published by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), is bigger than the Macan EV.
More Powerful Than The Macan EV
The Xiaomi YU7 isn’t just bigger than the Macan EV – it’s also more powerful. Initial specs from the government agency’s database disclose that it will have two electric motors: one on each axle, with the rear one producing more power. The total output is reportedly rated at 681 horsepower, which trumps the Macan EV in its most powerful version, the Macan Turbo Electric, rated at 630 hp with Overboost.

Some are subtle, others not so much. These are the copycat cars that you’ll never see in the USA.
Those numbers will allow the 5,300-pound SUV to reach speeds of up to 157 mph. Other details about the YU7 electric SUV, such as the capacity of its CATL lithium NMC battery and its acceleration prowess are yet to be announced, but we suspect we’ll hear more about that in the coming months leading to its market launch in China. It does have a huge shoe to fill, with its SU7 sibling selling like hotcakes, moving over 112,000 units this year as of November.
Will There Be A YU7 Ultra?
According to CarNewsChina, Xiaomi will start selling the YU7 in the middle of 2025. It will be priced between 250,000 and 350,000 yuan, or around $34,000 to $48,000 at the current exchange rates. The tech company didn’t say whether a performance-focused Ultra version is coming, mirroring the SU7 sedan.
