Ferrari Chairman John Elkann stated as early as 2021 that the automaker would launch its first electric vehicle in 2025.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna has now confirmed the vehicle will debut on Oct. 9 during the company’s scheduled capital markets day presentation. He also revealed the EV will be one of six new Ferraris arriving in 2025.
Vigna made the announcement on Tuesday while presenting Ferrari’s 2024 financial results. The company reported a net profit of 1.53 billion euros (approximately $1.58 billion) in 2024, reflecting a 21% increase over the previous year, with deliveries rising 0.7% to 13,752 units.
He referred to the upcoming EV as the elettrica—Italian for “electric”—though this is not expected to be its official name.

While Vigna did not share specific details about the vehicle, prototypes spotted near Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters over the past year suggest it will be a high-riding model, similar to the Purosangue SUV, rather than a traditional sports car.
We also know Ferrari has filed multiple patents related to EV technology over the years, including a recent one for a three-motor powertrain with various methods for generating an emotional sound—one of the key selling points of Ferrari’s gasoline-powered lineup. As with its gas engines, Ferrari plans to develop its own electric motors, inverters, and batteries, though it will collaborate with partners in certain areas, such as battery technology.
The starting price is rumored to exceed 500,000 euros ($518,000). To address potential concerns about battery reliability after the standard warranty expires, Ferrari may introduce an extended warranty program that includes scheduled battery replacements, similar to its approach with plug-in hybrids.
Production is set to begin in early 2026 at Ferrari’s newly completed E-Building at its headquarters.
