The Kent State Men’s and Women’s track and field teams will compete at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational and the Northeast Ohio Open in Miami, Fla., and Akron, respectively. A group of combined event athletes and jumpers will head to Florida, while the rest of the team will make the short trip to the school down the road. Both meets are set to begin Friday and conclude Saturday.
HURRICANE ALUMNI INVITATIONAL:
Ayden Bath will compete in the decathlon and Alexandre Malanda will triple jump. For the women, graduate student Lillie Franks will compete in the high jump while Matilde Carboncini, Shelby Grover, and Svenia DeConinck will compete in the heptathlon.
NORTHEAST OHIO OPEN:
MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week Gabby Bailey will look to improve on her discus mark which currently ranks 14th in the NCAA, she will also throw shot put. Gabrielle Hammonds will open her outdoor season in the 100-meter hurdles and Nicole Kuehner will run the 800-meters. Antoine Brown will run the 100 and 200-meter dashes for the men while Michael Arner headlines the distance group in the 1500-meters. Kristian Kneffler is currently ranked 34th in the NCAA in the pole vault.
