Free Halloween Music: Here Are 5 Places to Stream Spooky Tunes

It’s that time of year when we’re seeking the spookiest music for our Halloween celebrations or maybe just some tunes to get you in a ghoulish mood. If you’re looking for free options for a terrifyingly spooky playlist, we found some pretty solid options.

One thing to know about these spooky soundtracks is that, in most cases, you won’t be able to download them. You’ll need to stream the music live. But there are a couple of options that will allow you to download the songs so you can build your own soundtrack and order them however makes sense for your needs.

For various music styles, HalloweenRadio is an excellent resource for many oldies and more obscure Halloween-themed music. The site hosts five channels for your scary listening pleasure: Oldies, Atmosphere, Kids, Movies, and the Main channel. You will have to stream these playlists live, though; you can’t download them.

One site with many suggestions for music, plus one of the most unique playlists I’ve found, is Spooky Little Halloween. You’ll find options like Thriller and Ghostbusters on the list, but you’ll have to use Spotify to get the full songs. If you don’t want to use their Spotify playlist, the site lists their 19 favorites you can try to find to start building your own.

Speaking of Spotify, there are hundreds of playlists available. You can listen for free if you don’t mind the ads. I found several that had all the classics, but one that I liked the most was Halloween Playlist 2024. It contains 150 songs, including favorites like the Halloween theme and Spooky, Scary Skeletons.

Sometimes, what you need is just the ambiance of Halloween, and for that, I found this perfectly spooky soundtrack on YouTube from Cozy Cottage. They have several playlists that provide just the right background music for your Halloween party. One thing I really appreciated about it is the animated images, which add even more atmosphere to your festive setting if you’re streaming the music through YouTube on your TV.

There are seven different categories of Halloween-related audio, but the main channel for music is where it’s at for spooky tunes. And while the site is ad-heavy, you can download the music tracks to create your spooky playlist.
