Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries reveals The Yappening 2 event, which features a new map and the return of a fan-favorite mode.
Halo Infinite will host “The Yappening 2” event featuring a new map, a free Operation Pass with all-new rewards, and much more this month. Longtime Halo fans may also look forward to the reintroduction of Gruntpocalypse in Halo Infinite, more than 13 years after it was first featured in Halo Reach.
343 Industries continues to support Halo Infinite with new updates and content in 2024, with the most recent update implementing the Easy Anti-Cheat system for the PC version and applying major network improvements this past March. The update also introduced experimental Competitive Skill Rank payouts and applied several balance changes in Halo Infinite. The game’s April 2024 update will mark the beginning of The Yappening 2, which features content for standard multiplayer modes and the fan-favorite Firefight mode in Halo Infinite.
In a new Twitter post, 343 Industries introduced all the new content coming to Halo Infinite in The Yappening 2 event, which runs from Tuesday, April 2 to Tuesday, April 30. Like previous events, there is a free Operation Pass for all players with 20 tiers of rewards to claim. Some of the new rewards include the Glibnub Special and Abundant Growth armor coatings, the Load Bearing shoulder pad, and the Yapster and Gruntball weapon charms. Buying the event’s Premium Pass will grant players the Glibnub’s Golden Guns weapon coating as an instant purchase bonus. What’s more, the event will introduce new customization options for Halo Infinite’s Mark VII armor, and the new Corrosion arena map will be available later this month.
Halo Infinite The Yappening 2 Event Brings New Map, Gruntpocalypse, and New Operation Pass
Gruntpocalypse will be available in Halo Infinite’s Firefight PvE game mode during The Yappening 2, featuring hundreds of Grunt enemies to defeat across various rounds. It’s unclear whether Halo Infinite’s version of Gruntpocalypse will feature different rules than the Halo Reach version, however.
Additionally, a new round of premium items will be available for purchase in Halo Infinite’s in-game shop as well. These new items include the Boggart armor kit and a Conqueror shop bundle.
A Halo Waypoint blog post for The Yappening 2 hasn’t been released, but Halo Infinite fans won’t have to wait long for the new event to begin. The current Operation Pass system in Halo Infinite also means that players who buy the Premium Pass can catch up and earn remaining rewards after the event ends on April 30, so there should be plenty of time to earn new gear. Overall, 2024 continues to look like a promising year for Halo Infinite and the franchise going forward.
