Ever since Lawrence Stroll took control of Aston Martin, the brand has been on an upward trend, and in 2025, the English automaker is building on the momentum of the past couple of years with the introduction of the drop-top Vantage. The 2025 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster arrives with the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 as its hardtop sibling, and it delivers the same 656 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, all of which is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission hooked up to an electronic limited-slip differential.
With this much performance on offer, there’s not much that can compare. As an object of desire, the removal of the roof has given the Vantage a softer aesthetic, giving St. Tropez vibes, and the upturned trunk lid seems even more at home here than it does on the coupe, but it wasn’t a simple task creating this open-air experience.

The World’s Fastest Folding Automatic Convertible Roof
As all automakers have realized is most cost-effective, Aston Martin elected to design and engineer the convertible alongside the coupe, thereby minimizing compromise for each. As a result, the Roadster only weighs a little over 132 pounds more than the hardtop but can be fitted with the same 410-mm carbon-ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers on the front axle. Naturally, the removal of the roof brings some slight differences you can’t see from the outside, such as improved gearbox mountings and revised suspension settings to account for the rearward shift in weight (49:51) that comes with a folding roof. That roof is claimed to be the “fastest electric folding convertible roof on sale,” opening or closing in just 6.8 seconds at speeds of up to 31 mph.

That’s the same speed as the old Vantage drop-top, but a neat feature for 2025 is that the roof can be operated from the key fob, so long as you’re roughly 6.5 feet (2 meters) from the car. While we’re on the subject of speed, the new Vantage Roadster claims that its Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 rubber (developed specifically for Aston Martin) can catapult the driver from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 202 mph. The latter figure matches the Vantage Coupe, while the former is just one-tenth of a second slower.
A Splash Of Color For The New Vantage Roadster
The Gaydon-based automaker has seen fit to add three new finishes to the color palette. These are Iridescent Sapphire, Satin Iridescent Sapphire, and Bronze Flare (which we hope to receive imagery of sometime soon). The canvas roof (which folds in a Z shape rather than the K-fold type to save weight) can be had in Black, Red, Blue, or a mix of Black and Silver. On top of that, a variety of livery options using 21 colors is on offer.

Aston Martin Valhalla Takes AMG V8 Power To Heights Mercedes Couldn’t
Aston Martin’s latest has 1,064 hp from its AMG V8 and three electric motors, plus F1 suspension and aero.
Four styles are on offer for the 21-inch wheels, each available in various finishes. Finally, the brake calipers come in a choice of 7 hues. Everything else is pretty much the same as it is in the Vantage Coupe, which is no bad thing. This year marks 20 years since the original modern Vantage V8, but you can’t celebrate just yet; deliveries are scheduled for Q2 of this year, with pricing still to be announced.
