Creators can respond to fans faster, and everyone else can have fun chatting with custom-made bots on nearly any topic imaginable.
Instagram is the latest tech company to bring AI to its users. Creators can use the new AI Studio to build custom AI-powered chatbots based on their interests or, as Meta wrote in the blog post, as an “extension of themselves.”
Chatbots can be used privately, shared with followers, or made available to the public for anyone to use in WhatsApp and other Meta-owned apps.
Characters can be created through the Instagram app or AI Studio on the web. There are several templates available. One example is called music lover. The default prompt is “A downtempo devotee who curates the perfect ambient soundscapes for unwinding, whether you’re lounging at home or vibing in a club.” The character’s prompt, name, tagline, and avatar are editable to make it your own.
Athletic trainer, attentive listener, and loyal bestie are a few other options There’s also a custom AI character option for making one from scratch. The character creation process includes explaining what your AI character does, custom instructions for how it should respond in specific scenarios, example dialogue to create a unique style for the bot, and suggested prompts for users to pick from when starting a conversation with your AI chatbot.
Instagram users with professional accounts can build a custom AI chatbot based on themselves and trained on their Instagram content. The bot can automatically respond with relevant answers like product suggestions, past videos, and fun facts. Meta says the bot can be configured to avoid things the creator doesn’t want to mention, like certain links and topics. Responses from a creator’s chatbot are labeled as such so the user knows it’s not a human talking.
AI Studio is currently available only in the US.
