Jamie Foxx is out of ‘the hospital,’ playing pickleball, daughter says

Jamie Foxx’s daughter is “sad” that the media has “run wild” with stories suggesting that her 55-year-old movie star father suffered a debilitating medical crisis that is still keeping him in the hospital.

So, Corinne Foxx took to Instagram Story Friday to claim that he’s been “out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating” and is even doing so well in his recovery that he “was playing pickle ball yesterday!” Corinne Foxx’s post was a clapback to a recent report that said the Foxx family was “preparing for the worst.”

Corinne Foxx again said nothing about the nature of her father’s condition or the medical complication that led to his hospitalization on April 11. She announced on Instagram on April 12 that her Oscar-winning father had “experienced a medical complication” the day before while he was in Atlanta filming the Netflix movie, “Back in Action,” which also stars Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close.

Since that announcement, the family has released a few cryptic details about his condition, relying on such famous friends as Nick Cannon or Kevin Hart to offer encouraging updates. However, some of the statements, which are meant to offer reassurance,  could be read in different ways. Some also seem to be conflicting, or to raise more questions than answers.

On April 24, Cannon told Entertainment Tonight that his friend is “awake,” the Daily Beast reported. Cannon also said he had heard that Foxx is “alert, so we love it.” In a May 2 podcast interview with Logan Paul, Hart said his friend was on the mend and making progress, E! News reported. But Hart also suggested last week that Foxx was in some place other than home.

“The dope thing is that he’s getting better in his situation, and you know, everybody’s prayers, everybody’s love, energy — all that stuff is seen and felt,” Hart said. “So in this case, man, you just want the guy to get out of the situations and then get back home.”

Indeed, Corinne Foxx said nothing Friday about her father being “home,” leading to the possibility that he’s in a care facility that technically isn’t a “hospital” but that provides opportunities to play pickleball.

Hart also explained that the family was being “tight” about releasing too much information, in part because Foxx has always “been a private person to a certain degree.”

Last week, unnamed people close to Foxx raised an alarm by telling TMZ that he was still in the hospital — which doesn’t line up with Corinne Foxx’s assertion that he’s been “out of the hospital for weeks.” Those unnamed sources told TMZ that the actor needs “all the prayers and well-wishes his fans can muster.”

Shortly after that report, Foxx, or someone operating his Instagram account, sought to dispel concerns about his health by posting a message that was attributed to him. The message was all text but no photos and simply said: “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed.”

Foxx was last seen on April 10, the day before his reported “medical complication.” He was photographed, looking in good health, while filming a scene with Diaz and Close, in which he appeared to be coaching a women’s soccer team.

CNN reported that Foxx’s medical issue didn’t happen on the set and he was not transported by an emergency vehicle to the hospital. TMZ also reported at the time that Foxx’s condition was serious enough that family members flew in to be by his side, though the actor was also reportedly joking with them.
