On 2nd and 6 from the 24 with 1:13 to play, Willis completes a beautiful 51-yard pass to wide open Jayden Reed after a play-action fake. Two running plays and a knee gives McManus a winning field goal for the second straight week, this one a chip shot from 24 yards.
The Packers are forced to punt after three plays and the Jaguars get the ball back with a chance to tie the game at their own 13-yard line. Lawrence throws four straight completions to move the ball to the Green Bay 45. On third and 5, Lawrence hits his tight end Strange for 21 yards and a first down at the 14 at the 2-minute warning. Lawrence’s first throw to the end zone is well covered byt He throws to a similar spot near the corner on second down and Evan Engram catches the ball at its high point over three Packers defenders and the Jags tied the game at 27 with 1:48 to play.
A 21-yard grab by tight end Brenton Strange and a 14-yard run by Bigsby help get the Jaguars to the Packers’ 30. But on 3rd and 4, a bad snap by the Jaguars forces a 47-yard field goal with 5:36 left
Packers stick with the run
The Packers’ defense continues to perform well and forces a punt after just three plays. Green Bay starts from its own 24 and continues to run the ball. The Packers rush on six of seven plays and punt back to the Jaguars with 9:38 to play.
A penalty forces Jacksonville and they pay for it. On 3rd and 7, Lawrence is sacked by Edgerrin Cooper and Devonte Wyatt, active for the first time after three weeks, recovers the fumble at the five-yard line. On 2nd and goal, Willis hits a wide open Tucker Kraft for a five-yard touchdown with 14:06 to play. The Packers score two touchdowns in 1:17.
Willis returns and the Packers run eight plays, seven of them are runs. Jacobs runs for 54 yards on the drive including a 36-yard sprint to the end zone after a 2-yard scramble b Willis. The Packers regain the lead, 27-17.
A 21-yard pass to Tim Jones gets the Jaguars going and out of dangerous territory. The Packers force a 4th and 1 at the Packers 48, but Lawrence plunges ahead for the first down. A few plays later, Lawrence hits standout rookie receiver Brian Thomas for a 18-yard touchdown with 5:10 left to play in the quarter and the Jaguars take their first lead.
The Jaguars punt after three plays and the Packers get the ball at the 20. On 2nd and 7, Love appears to injure his knee again after an incomplete pass to Josh Jacobs. The Packers call a timeout and Malik Wills enters the game on 3rd and 9. Willis rund for five yards and the Packers punt.
Deep throws to Parker Washington and Brian Thomas give the Jaguars a first down at the Packers’ 21 with 16 seconds left. Three plays later the Jaguars settle for a 39-yard field goal.
The Packers get one play off before the 2-minute warning and it’s a 12-yard completion to Christian Watson putting the ball at the 42. On second down, a beautiful throw and catch by Love and Doubs at the sidelines picks up 25 yards and the Jaguars’ 33. A deep 3rd and 5 throw by Love falls incomplete and McManus appears to hit a 46-yard field goal, but a delay of game on the defense gives the Packers a first down at the 23. The Packers gain just three yards and McManus kicks a 38-yard field goal with 54 seconds left in the quarter.
The Jaguars get a first down on the opening play of the series after a 33-yard completion to Christian Kirk for the first time in the game. An 18-yard completion to rookie Brian Thomas and a14-yard rub by Tank Bigsby give the Jaguars a first-and-goal at the 2. On 2nd and goal, an illegal motion penalty backs up the Jaguars, but quarterback Trevor Lawrence keeps the ball and scores from 6 yards on the next play.
On 2nd and 6, Love avoids pressure and finds Tucker Kraft in open space for 67 yards for a 1st and goal at the 9-yard line. After an illegal shift backs them up five yards, the Packers fail to gain yardage and settle for a 31-yard field goal from Brandon McManus.
The Packers force another punt after just three plays by Jacksonville’s offense and will start from their own 20. The Jaguars have just 24-yards of total offense and do not have a first down with 9:24 left in the second quarter.
Doubs can’t catch Love’s 3rd and 6 throw, but pass interference call on Montaric Brown on 3rd and 6 sets up the Packers at the 3-yard line and instead of a field goal, Jacobs scores an easy touchdown from three yards out, giving the Packers a 3-0 lead.
On 2nd and 12 from their own 4-yard line, Trevor Lawrence’s pass intended for Christian Kirk is intercepted by Xavier McKinney at the 34-yard line . It’s McKinney’s sixth interception of the season.
A completion to running back Chris Brooks is not enough for a first down, but an illegal hands to the face call gives the Packers a first down. However on 2nd and 11, a throw by Love intended for Doubs at the 6-yard line is intercepted by Jarrian Jones.
The Jaguars manage only seven yards before having to punt as neither offense looks sharp early. After returning from the medical tent, Love starts from his own seven yard line and throws a 31-yard strike to Romeo Doubs. After a five-yard gain by Jacobs, Love hits Doubs over the middle for another 18 yards and a first down at the Jacksonville 33. On 2nd and 11, Love completes consecutive short throws to Dontayvion Wicks and Christian Watson for another first down at the 22. On 2nd and 12, Love swing the ball out to Reed for 4 yards and the quarter ends.
The Packers run the ball twice and then a throw on third down to Jayden Reed goes off Reed’s hands as he dives for the ball. Whelan punts from the seven yard line and his 50-yard boot gives the Jaguars solid field position at the 50.
The Packers force a 3rd and 4 from the Jaguars 23 and Lawrence fails to find an open receiver, running for two yards. A 73-yard punt forces the Packers to start at their own 2-yard line. Love is back on the field for the Packers.
The Packers first three plays (two passes and a run) produce 24 yards after starting at the 30. After a timeout by Jordan Love with 12:59 left, a jet sweep to Jayden Reed gains nothing. On 3rd and 3, Jacobs picks up 16 yards, but a holding call sets up a 3rd and 9 at the 46. Love is flushed from the pocket and throws incomplete and the Packers will punt. Love landed a bit awkwardly on his foot while throwing on the run and limped off the field.
Quay Walker could not clear concussion protocol in time for Sunday’s kickoff at the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Green Bay Packers linebacker is inactive after dropping out of last week’s game against the Houston Texans with a concussion. Walker, listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report, practiced during the week but wasn’t cleared for gameday.
Defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt is active after missing the past three games with an ankle injury. Wyatt’s return is significant for the Packers, considering he might have been their best defensive lineman through the first month. Wyatt, also listed as questionable, had three sacks in his first four games before the injury.
