President Biden ordered a full review around the security for former President Trump’s Pennsylvania rally, and to assess the security in place for the Republican National Convention this week in Milwaukee.
Trump said on Sunday afternoon said he would head to Wisconsin for the RNC as planned. He’d thanked the nation on Sunday morning for its concern in the wake of an attempt on his life the evening before.
Throughout the morning, from Republicans and Democrats alike, there were calls for turning down the temperature of political rhetoric.
Amid those calls, there were questions about how this happened, and descriptions of the rally as a “security failure.” One person at the rally was also killed, and two others critically injured, officials said.
Overnight, the FBI named the suspect in the shooting at a rally in Butler, Pa., but offered no other details. Authorities said Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa., was involved.
