Now you can send larger files—or more files—with your Samsung device.
Samsung introduced sharing files via contacts or QR codes in Quick Share in 2020. Quick Share is Samsung’s file-sharing capability, and it’s super convenient for sending files from one device to another. Now, Samsung has quietly made it possible for you to share more and larger files.
The update, including the increase in file size, was pointed out by @theonecid on X on Friday. The change doubles Samsung’s file-sharing limits from 5GB per day to 10 GB per day. The company has also increased the daily limit for the number of files that can be transferred at one time to 1000, assuming those files stay below that 10GB daily limit, and improved device identification by displaying up to 2 lines of text for the name of devices.
According to Samsung’s Quick Share page, you can share files that are up to 10Gb in size, just keep in mind that you still have a 10Gb daily limit. There are also some limits on the kind of files that you can share. Specifically, you cannot share any kind of executable file (.exe, .com, .bat, .cmd, .vbs, .reg, .msi) using Quick Share.
Samsung Quick Share shouldn’t be confused with Samsung Private Share, which lets you share files privately between two devices and includes other privacy features like expiration dates. Private share has a limit of 20 files per day up to 200 MB of data. It’s also important to understand that sharing files with nearby devices—called Nearby Sharing—is not subject to the limits. The limits of Quick Share are specific to files shared via QR code or Contacts.
This update appears to be available now. If your Samsung device doesn’t automatically, you can always do a manual update to get the latest features.
