Now you can get automatic recording and real-time transcription for conversations in English, Spanish, and French.
Having a good recording and transcription app on your phone can mean the difference between catching all the details in a conversation and missing something important. That’s where Otter.ai comes in, and now it’s expanding its capabilities.
In a press release sent to Lifewire, Otter.ai announced that it’s adding two additional languages to its mobile apps, designed to help you record and transcribe the conversations that matter. The Otter.ai app is available for Android or iOS, and now supports English, French, and Spanish. Users can choose which language they want to use for their default recording and transcription. Unfortunately, Otter.ai won’t translate those languages, however, so you’ll need to be fluent in whichever language you choose as your default.
Otter.ai works both as a mobile app and a web-based app that you can connect to your calendar to record and transcribe virtual meetings on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet. The mobile app can be used for live, in-person conversations, and translations happen in real time as the conversation happens. You can, however, go back and edit the conversation transcription if a mistake appears.
The Otter.ai app is free but has several subscription levels. The Basic subscription is free and gives you 300 transcription minutes per month, up to 30 minutes per conversation. For the lifetime of your free subscription, you are limited to importing three audio or video files to transcribe.
The Pro subscription is $16.99 per month ($100 when paid annually) and increases your transcription limit to 1200 per month with recordings up to 90 minutes. You’ll also be allowed to import up to 10 audio and video files to transcribe per month.
There are also Business and Enterprise plans available for anyone who might need more transcription minutes or team support.
