A Pokemon fan reimagines the Pokemon called Orthworm as a nightmarish monstrosity and shares their artwork for other fans to see.
A Pokemon fan artist gave Orthworm a new look, as they created a terrifying redesign and shared their efforts on social media. In response to the eldritch horror version of Orthworm, some Pokemon trainers commented on how threatening the creature looked, and others shared comparisons to other games.
Known as the Earthworm Pokemon, Orthworm is a pure Steel-type Pokemon that debuted in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Normally known for having a simple smile on its face, Orthworm is a long Pokemon with a red body and six blue legs that can extend out from its middle section. Despite being a Steel-type Pokemon, Orthworm’s ability, Earth Eater, takes away its weakness to Ground-type attacks like Earthquake and instead gets healed for the same amount of HP it would’ve lost as damage. While Orthworm is resistant to physical attacks, it has a glaring weakness against powerful Fire-type attacks like Flamethrower. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the Lurking Steel Titan Orthworm is one of the bosses fought during the middle portion of the main story.
Although Orthworm is usually a Steel-type Pokemon with a friendly disposition, one Pokemon fan gave the giant earthworm a horrific makeover. On Reddit, a Pokemon trainer named Millagro_art drew their version of Orthworm as a titanic monstrosity worthy of its “Living Steel Titan” moniker and shared their handiwork on the r/pokemon subreddit. In their artwork, a Pokemon Scarlet trainer and their partner, a Terastallized Crocalor, stood against the monstrous Orthworm, whose arms were given some muscular enhancements. Each arm had veins popping out, with hands grasping at the nearby cliffs and looking to punch Crocalor and its trainer with a raised fist. Orthworm’s normal smile was replaced with a gaping, toothless maw that drooled at the sight of its enemies, and its long body extended deep into a cave, further emphasizing its gargantuan nature.
Pokemon Fan Artist Redesigns Orthworm as a Titanic Nightmare
In the comments, Millagro_art replied that, during their battle with Orthworm, they had little trouble defeating the Lurking Steel Titan in their playthrough. However, other Pokemon trainers commented that the monstrous Orthworm looked like something out of a nightmare. One user commented that the monster looked like a boss that would appear in Elden Ring, and another gave it titles such as “Orthworm of a Thousand Voices” as a point of comparison.
Though Orthworm can be either a tough foe for some Pokemon trainers or a simple obstacle to clear, the artwork of Millagro_art made the former comparison more appropriate. It remains to be seen what Pokemon fan artists will create next.
