Polestar has announced the debut of its expanded Arctic Circle collection, featuring rally-inspired, one-off versions of its Polestar 2, Polestar 3, and Polestar 4 EVs. As Volvo’s former performance and racing brand, these vehicles are designed to showcase Polestar’s motorsport performance DNA, making a public debut at the 2025 FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria.
The expanded Arctic Circle collection builds upon the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle prototype from 2022. Built at one of Polestar’s R&D facilities, they are engineered and developed in the challenging Arctic conditions of northern Sweden, led by Joakim Rydholm, Polestar’s Head of Driving Dynamics. Rydholm has over three decades of motorsport experience, with a history of Swedish rally podium finishes.
“We created something truly special when we worked on the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle, and to now apply that formula to our two new SUVs has been a fun and challenging task. We have worked closely with our leading technology partners to bring bespoke engineering solutions to these cars that emphasize our performance DNA – and make them incredibly fun to drive.”

The EVs also feature distinct rally elements like Recaro bucket seats, rally mud flaps, Swedish gold tow hooks, and specialized roof-mounted accessories such as Stedi ST4K roof light bars and ski mounts. Accessories are also added into the mix, including skis, roof racks, storage solutions, and recovery equipment, representing Polestar’s brand partnerships with Black Crows, Fiskars, and Thule.
Highlighting The Resilience Of Polestar EVs
EVs, particularly their batteries, aren’t exactly at their best during cold weather conditions, with some EV brands struggling harder than others. With a public rally-style performance at the 2025 FAT Ice Race on February 1, this isn’t just a tribute to Polestar’s motorsport roots, but also a way of showing how resilient their EVs are in adverse conditions – regardless of how confusing their nameplates are.
