Key Takeaways
- Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II revealed with updated styling and interior touches.
- The Sportier Black Badge trim retains the 6.75-liter V12 with 591 horsepower.
- Interior enhancements include new tech and even more bespoke options.
First introduced in 2018, Rolls-Royce’s first-ever SUV has received a mid-cycle refresh. Meet the Cullinan Series II: the world’s best luxury SUV, made better. With updated styling, the lofty Rolls-Royce is even more imposing and commanding than before, while the interior benefits from several upgrades and more customization.
The Series II gains motivation from the familiar 6.75-liter V12, which, in the Black Badge, produces 591 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Naturally, Rolls-Royce doesn’t provide performance figures – that’s simply too vulgar – but, sufficed to say, the Cullinan makes hushed and dignified progress. Existing clients told Rolls-Royce that no other SUV provides the same level of performance as the Cullinan’s 12-cylinder, likely finding no other power plant as refined and smooth.

Updated Styling Keeps The Cullinan Fresh
Styling has been subtly updated, with the Cullinan now boasting design cues first seen on the all-electric Spectre. New L-shaped daytime running lamps now cascade down towards the bumper, creating an unmistakable look during the day or night. Barring the G-Class, the Cullinan is the only luxury SUV that eschews sleek lines for a monolithic, upright look. New air intakes can be found on the lower bumper, and add some shape to the blunt front end.

The Pantheon grille takes center stage and is illuminated for the first time on the Cullinan. The grille has been subtly reshaped, with a lower leading edge and polished horizon line, bringing it in line with the updated Phantom Series II from a design standpoint. High gloss black trim can also be found on the Series II Cullinan, which stretches from the side skirts to the bumper and exhaust surrounds. The visible exhaust tips are finished in stainless steel and sit flush with the vehicle trim.
And What About The Black Badge?
Customers can also choose from 23-inch wheels and new paint colors, including Emperador Truffile, which can be paired with a ‘Crystal Over’ finish, a lacquer that carries traces of glass particles. The Black Badge gets unique styling touches, such as a black Pantheon grille with a silver horizon line and trim. An all-black finish is also available. Adding to the sportier, more youthful look, the Black Badge’s exterior trim – including the Spirit of Ecstacy – is finished in a high-gloss black. The metal finishes, such as the exhaust finishers, use a unique chrome electrolyte process to create the illusion of a mirror-like chrome finish.
Black Badge customers can also choose to have the valances, lower sill, and front bumper trim finished in the paint color, creating a sportier look. Lastly, the brake calipers can be finished in red, black Turchese, Forge Yellow, and Mandarin. Of course, the changes don’t end here, with the palatial interior also benefiting from several significant updates.
Ultra-Luxurious Interior Is Even Better Than Before
The Cullinan Series II is fitted with a new gauge cluster panel and the updated Central Information Display. First seen on the all-electric Spectre, this is the first time the updated interface has been applied to a V12-powered Roller. Thanks to the upgraded Spirit infotainment system, owners can connect two streaming devices to the rear entertainment screens, which now have a new interface that lets you control the seat functions and car management features.

Staying in the rear seat for a moment, the rear seat infotainment system is now compatible with all Bluetooth headphones. If you don’t need to use those, the 18-speaker Bespoke Audio system with a 1400-watt amplifier offers a remarkable listening experience. The Illuminated Fascia panel has been integrated into the Cullinan for the first time. In the SUV, the model name is displayed along with a graphic inspired by skyscrapers at night. Of course, clients can also create one-of-a-kind Illuminated Fascia motifs with the help of the Bespoke department.
Black Badge Interior Gets Its Own Special Touches
Lastly, the Clock Cabinet has also been redesigned and includes a classy analog clock and a Spirit of Ecstacy figurine made of solid stainless steel. Due to the success of the Technical Carbon finish, Rolls-Royce has kept it for the Series II. Rolls-Royce says each leaf of Technical Carbon receives six coats of lacquer before it is left to cure for 72 hours. All pieces are hand-polished, with the entire process taking 21 days. If customers opt for the Individual Rear Seat option, they can now include the Black Badge ‘infiniti’ symbol in the ‘Waterfall’ section that houses the champagne cooler and separates the rear seats.

A new Duality Twill textile, a high-end bamboo-based rayon fabric, can also be specified for the Cullinan Series II Black Badge. Should the entire interior be trimmed in Duality Twill, the stitches total 2.2 million, using 11 miles of thread. This shows that Rolls-Royce will stop at nothing to amaze customers and create an ambiance unlike any other place. Placed Perforation is also available for the upholstery, creating unique patterns on the seats and door trims. As with the exterior, the interior trim is dark metal and black.
Cullinan Series II Gets New Interior Finishes
It’s worth noting the rayon fabric Duality Twill interior can also be specified for the standard Cullinan. Placed Perforation is also available, heightening the ambiance of the interior. Instead of the sporty carbon fiber trim in the Black Badge, the Cullinan Series II is available with more traditional finishes, such as the new Grey Stained Ash, an open-pore wood veneer “with a delicate shimmer.”
As Rolls-Royce’s most requested product, we expect the latest updates to further the popularity of the ultra-luxury SUV. Of course, the automaker hasn’t said how much the new Cullinan will set you back, but most buyers won’t care. After all, these cars often leave the factory with custom features, so the MSRP rarely matters. The latest updates may be subtle, but it is hard to improve on perfection.
