The SBU, together with the National Police, detained in Chernivtsi region two Russian accomplices who, on the instruction of their handlers, had planned a terrorist attack targeting Ukrainian law enforcers.
That’s according to the SBU press office, Ukrinform reports.
The plan was to set off an improvised explosive device, charged with screws for maximum damage, once a patrol police squad arrives for a hoax crime report.
The perpetrators planted the IED in a garbage bag, activating a camera in a cell phone, concealed in a juice box, to monitor the area.
With remote access to the gadget, the Russian operatives planned to set off the explosive device upon the arrival of police officers.

The SBU detained both enemy accomplices after they had planted the explosive.
The culprits are two local drug dealers aged 17 and 18, who caught Russia’s attention due to their presence on thematic Telegram channels.
After being remotely recruited for clandestine cooperation with Russian intelligence, the two youngsters received detailed instructions from their handler for making an explosive device and properly placing it for the attack.

The suspects are now facing up to 12 years in prison if found guilty in court.
As noted by the National Police, explosives technicians using the ZEUS-2 robotic complex to inspect the high-risk area before destroying the IED in a safe manner.
