TROY, N.Y. – After a stellar outing for the Union College baseball team in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, first-year Jack Collins was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Collins threw a career-high eight complete innings and only allowed one run on two hits. He matched his season-high strikeouts with six set in the game against SUNY Poly.
Union is 13-6 overall and 3-3 in Liberty League conference play.
Collins is the second member of the Garnet Chargers to be recognized with a Liberty League weekly award after sophomore Liam McIlroy was named the Player of the Week on March 4.
Union is back in action tomorrow with a non-conference game against VTSU Castleton. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Central Park A Diamond.
