Created by April Blair, All American is The CW’s hit drama series that premiered in October 2018. The show follows the football journey of Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), and is based on the real-life story of NFL linebacker and Super Bowl XLVI champion Spencer Paysinger. Samantha Logan, Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, Chelsea Tavares, Bre-Z, Cody Christian, Monét Mazur, and more also star.
All American found immense success after its partnership with Netflix. When the third season dropped on the platform, the series earned 1.43 billion minutes of watch time and soared to the top of Nielsen’s streaming rankings, according to Variety. The popularity of All American even led to the creation of a spinoff, All American: Homecoming, which is returning for a third season this summer.
In Season 6, audiences will pick up where the last Season 5 left off. In the action-packed finale, Spencer finally poured his heart out to Olivia before she boarded her plane to London, Jordan proposed to Layla, and Patience was stabbed by Miko — just as Coop was on her way to tell Patience that she had feelings for her.
Ahead of the season premiere, Ezra told Deadline that his character is “very hyper-focused” on the NFL in Season 6. “His NFL dreams are almost like in touching distance now. In high school, it was like a fantasy. And then now he’s in college, it’s kind of become real,” he explained. “He’s focused on rebuilding this GAU team, but it’s a little closer now.”
As for how Spencer and Olivia will come together in Season 6, Logan teased that “we’re going to see them really show up for each other and just be in love.” She continued, “I mean, it’s All American, you have to have a little bit of drama. We don’t give people exactly what they want right away. So there is going to be some playful fun in there and fans might want to pull out their hair a little bit, but it’s good. It makes for good TV,” the actress joked.
