The developer of Stellar Blade, Shift Up, shares in an interview a neat feature the game will get in a post-launch update.
Shift Up CEO Kim Hyeong-tae mentioned in an interview that Stellar Blade will receive a New Game+ option in a post-launch update, as well as free costumes. The director of Stellar Blade goes further and also comments on the possibility of DLC and whether the game will have microtransactions.
Stellar Blade has been one of the most talked-about games lately, both for its merits and for some controversy surrounding the protagonist’s design. The frantic action-RPG with a post-apocalyptic theme recently received a demo, and players could get hands-on to see if the hype holds up or not. The public seems genuinely interested in the game, even considering the demo presented minor technical issues, such as an input lag problem in Stellar Blade. However, Shift UP seems already aware of these matters.
In an interview with the Ruliweb website, Shift Up’s CEO said they already have a post-launch update prepared for Stellar Blade, adding new free costumes, a balance patch, and the popular New Game+ feature. Kim Hyeong-tae also says that a Stellar Blade DLC has yet to be determined and that the studio doesn’t intend to add microtransactions to the game. However, Kim mentions that the only exception would be if another company wanted to collaborate and create new costumes for Eve.
Stellar Blade Will Get New Game+ In a Post-Launch Update
If history tells one anything, it’s that players are accustomed to the practice of microtransactions in games, even though some still frown upon it. However, if there’s something gaming fans dislike more than paid additional content, it’s being misled about its existence. When Tekken 8 announced a battle pass, it drew a lot of backlash and frustration from the fanbase. Shift UP’s CEO has already safeguarded against the possibility of Stellar Blade having DLC or possible microtransactions, although the latter is less likely.
Kim says that Shift Up intends to continue working on balance patches to prevent any inconvenience to Stellar Blade players. One of these updates may add a photo mode to Stellar Blade, a popular feature missing at launch. Lately, it’s rare for a new major release not to have a day one patch, but exclusive games usually have the advantage of being more optimized.
So far, Stellar Blade seems to be gearing up for a smooth launch on April 26. Even if it doesn’t, the studio has already committed to fixing any issues down the road. However, since Shift Up has already announced it’s working on a new triple-A action-RPG, it may take a little longer for new updates to Stellar Blade to come out.
